Details

• Babes in arms and children who will be participating in the singing are warmly welcome to join us for our weekly classes. Toddlers and non-singing kids are welcome if they are able to stay engaged in quiet activity near their parent during our hour of singing. While kids are welcome at choir, class time is not a kids' group play date. If you have a child who you think might struggle to stay occupied for our hour of singing, consider what you and the child may need in order for you and the group to fully participate and soak up the singing with ease.  Maybe it means that child has an hour long playdate at a friends house during your singing time. Maybe it means parents collaborating on an hour of childcare during class. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns on this topic!

• Arrive on time! This morning is for you, and being on time allows you and your co-singers to make the most of it. The best sessions are always the ones in which we all start together.

• Stay on top of hydration! Bring a water bottle to choir. A simple way to support your body as it reacquaints with singing is to stay hydrated during each class.

• Tea will be served each week after singing. Be sure to let your choir leader know if you have any specific dietary requirements.

• Some members will have little ones with them. Children are welcome at choir. Let's work together to support and respect the needs of all women as they arise. Children are encouraged to respect our singers' need for quiet as all learn and sing. They are encouraged to stay with/near mothers and/or occupied with quiet activities. With intention, we can create a group culture that allows for focus as well as fun!

• Let us know if you will be late or are unable to attend a session. It is absolutely fine to miss a class.

• Feeding or offering your child snacks during choir is absolutely fine if needed. You're encouraged to bring soft, noise-free toys and drawing materials.

• We will spend time both sitting and standing.

Payment:

Choir dues operate on a sliding scale basis. Choose the amount that feels best to you! Dues cover 20 hours of class time, online recordings, facilitator expenses, venue, and feeds the ongoing thread of possibility and liveliness of the group. No one is turned away for lack of funds! Please be in touch if you need another option regarding dues. If you'd rather register in person or via check, send an email letting me know you're signing up. Drop ins are welcome for $10 for the first three classes of each season. After class three, we close the term. To avoid website fees, you can pay in person or paypal zylsan01@luther.edu with the "send to friends and family" option.

Venue Information:

The Ark is located at 401 E Jefferson Street. Enter the front side door and walk up the stairs into the movement studio to find choir. There is abundant street parking available.

The Ark Cafe serves an organic, suggested donation lunch downstairs on Wednesdays- a fun post-choir activity that supports this wonderful community resource!
