For thousands of years, people have sung together; sung for joy, for creating and preserving culture, to mark important stories, to enliven social movements, to grieve, to praise, to share. On Saturday afternoon, July 21, you’re invited to an exciting new community venue in Woodstock to experience the age-old magic of oral tradition singing with natural voice songweaver Annie Zylstra. Singing with others is a powerful practice for personal wellbeing, for connecting with friends and strangers, for building relationship with the land and beings we sing of and for, and for crafting lively new collective stories in a world so hungry for them.
In the course of our hours together, we'll lean into questions of voice, place, and community as we sing harmony songs, rounds, and songs in other languages, all skillfully taught on the spot. Come feel what it’s like to weave your voice into a basket of sound with others, whether you've sung with confidence all your life or haven't sung in years. Absolutely no prior musical experience is necessary. All ages, genders, orientations, and abilities are welcome! Please arrive early enough to settle into the space, with a water drinking vessel. Teen tickets are half off, and kids come free. If you need another pricing option, please be in touch.
